GENERAL SUMMARY 
The Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the assessment of patients including the development, evaluation, and modification of the plan of care for patients receiving moderate sedation for surgical procedures. The IR Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the comfort and safety of patients for a designated time frame.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Performs various activities necessary for the preparation of the patient and the procedure room for the radiology procedures in compliance with policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Assists physician during procedures.
  • Completes patient assessment, monitoring for procedures and post-care.
  • Conducts patient education before test performs follow up when necessary.
  • Starts and maintains IV lines.
  • Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Safely administer moderate sedation/medications ordered by clinicians.
  • Submit prescriptions and refills to pharmacies per licensed clinician orders.
  • Assist in the onboarding or cross training of team members.
  • Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Prepares rooms, steriles instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensures that stock of supplies is maintained.
  • Communicates physician treatment plan including lab/imaging results to patients and documents appropriately within the EMR.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • RN license and certification as required by state.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS required.
  • Certified Radiology Nurse preferred

  • Ability to handle stressful and constantly changing conditions.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduate of accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum one year Interventional Radiology experience strongly preferred.
